Sonnet — An Invocation to The Master #170

Who art Thou O glory self-effacing
Of masked splendours in human garb?
What purpose Thine to us inclining
From heaven above as a solar orb?

What need ours beyond this sorrow
That ends not at death’s freeing gate?
What signs do our souls secretly show
That Thou must come Thyself to meet?

Are our ills greater than their masks,
Hides behind a direr antagonist?
Is there none who perforce cares
In all heaven, Thou sole protagonist?!

Do not merely parley with our souls true,
Our body, life, mind have sought Thee too!
