Thy Neglect

Thy Neglect

Sonnet — An Invocation to the Master #326

An errant mortal me and an adamant immortal Thee
Are my life canvas’ immutable boundary!
Of all the scripts Thou could pen for my soul
Thou doth chose this deplorable role!

Oh I flew on life’s careless air a carefree bird,
Every bough was home, every branch welcomed,
The fruits were sweet and the flowers pretty,
Cares I had none like an avian company!

And Thou didst come and plant a fire in mind,
Opening eyes in me who was happily blind!
And now I roam like a bard without a song,
For in all joy’s avenues is Thy will barring.

Am grown into shambles by Thy neglect,
On Thy paternal role Thou must work yet.
