Poem

A progression I intuit in all Thy methods
A methodical completeness in Thy melodies.
To the infant a graspable and tangible icon
Arriving in forms endearing with Thy sanction.

Mounting from there into life’s plane wide
Thou appearest as desire from every side,
Thy vast repertoire ranging many extremes
Like a river gathering waters from all streams.

Further Thou leapest into realms of mind
Fashioning thought and muse of subtle kind.
There Thou plantest the seed unquenchable
Of a divine hunger by the world unstoppable.

The direst of all is Thy assault on heart,
By Thy love savoured briefly but soon lost.
Always we are chained to this hemisphere,
We vainly conspire to bind Thee to us forever.

These plotting roads I trod have availed not
For Thou art beyond body, life and thought.
A method sole yet remains to try for me,
To unpossess myself opening to all of Thee.
