Sonnet — An Invocation to The Master #199

My soul is spread like a sail, wide and white,
To catch Thy breath’s imperial current,
For I navigate not by the sun or stars,
To Thy impulsion alone move my members.

My life has turned Thy will’s puppet,
The oar and rudder of desire are inept
To row and guide through life’s sea,
Oh a failed sailor I have turned to be!

The days when Thou dost my being helm
Am courted by the muses who gleam
With passion and inspiration revealing,
Oh unerring then is all my becoming!

I am addicted to Thee, as is earth to sun,
Stoop then to me, be not immortal and alone!
