Sonnet — An Invocation to The Master #116

What impulse hast Thou seeded me with
That labours through soil and falling rain
Drawing plant and flower from mute earth,
All for Thee O soul companion unseen!

What ardour hast Thou set to fiery flame
That burns through a deluge of sorrow,
That resists the black insidious dream
Seeking to alight on the musing brow.

What resolve hast Thou shaped in will
That blazes through uncaring silent space
Like the termless star its luminous thrill
Sends into hollow of space bottomless.

All mine redeeming traits are solely Thine,
The dull remnants only to savour Thee O Beloved mine.
