Night & Day

Night & Day

Sonnet

Kin art thou O night and day,
An equal share of my bosom I give:
One half for angry sun to flay,
Other for a helpless moon to grieve.

My burnished tears are dangling stars
Scattered across the uncaring void,
My heart’s wrung cry wings in silence
As a melody upon the deaf wasted.

My province is twixt heaven and abyss;
A celestial light plays its trumpet call,
A steady drum sounds from abyss pits,
Yet from both am held by a twilight wall.

My horizon aches for long awaited dawn,
And the soul’s union a mutual prize won.
