O Thou
Sonnet

O Thou
Sonnet
Behold this silent miracle hosted in me,
Inconspicuous it probes fringes of improbability.
A course of a solar day brings very many dawns
Of luminous change and too night’s retrogressions.
This cosmic churn of great rapidity I see,
Tugged by Light and Night in my body.
Am baffled by this method and its course,
An exacting swiftness shuts all littleness to close.
I find wonder in bird and leaf and flower,
In every nook a beauty lurks I discover.
I seem absolved from the pale of convention,
I will and breathe and am by another’s intervention.
O Thou, who art my substance, cause and sustainer,
May I always and ever Thy will in all things deliver.
