Teach Me
Sonnet — An Invocation to The Master #230
Why must a lay day appear thus
As if the night hath parted a veil away,
Where gone the deep infused dross
That upon me like a cloud did lay?
In my sleep’s span hast Thou swapped
The old dull world with one brand new,
Now all seems by a glory doused
By no apparent means I can construe.
What songbird hast Thou let loose
That sings thus in spaces of my heart,
Upon billows of its anthem melodious
My soul doth sail in joys triumphant.
Teach me to birth such morns in men,
I shall raise a chorus for Thee in hymn.
