Sonnet — An Invocation to The Master #226

How thrifty was I with the coin of attention,
Sifting the hours like a jeweller his jewels,
Always my eye on desire’s gain ever keen,
A miser to world and to ego so generous.

But Thy company has marred my manners,
Like a gambler maddened by fickle luck
I summon a charm and roll the hours
Hoping Thy semblance to miraculously pick.

Now I have grown careless like the rivers
Hurtling without caution to meet Thy ocean,
Neither time nor the twists and turns
Can curb the drift of my soul’s motion.

Now by a whim I wager my being and soul,
As once Thou threw Thyself in this manifested whole.
