Erstwhile Births

Erstwhile Births

Sonnet

Upon the wall face of my mind were carved many a theme,
Schemas of living and hope and dreams etched in memory,
By the steady hand of time all have been worn away,
My being is as a blank canvas unsullied by human time.

The pathways of my heart are unclogged and pristine,
The tracks of emotion have only faint footsteps of desire,
For these parts are now invested with an unseen fire
That solicits the god augurs to transform the human.

On the lighthouse of will I now stand and survey the terrain,
The grey choppy waves moan in poignant sombre rhythms,
Across the far horizon line a pale light finger faintly runs
Tearing gently the hemisphere for the coming dawn.

To all the erstwhile births that have led me thus far,
I pay homage for their hope and fervour and nurture.
