Sri Aurobindo’s Mahasamadhi Day 2
A Sonnet
Sri Aurobindo
Seven-tetrads, a master scheme of a divine play,
To inhabit with master light this poor sodden clay.
In Alipore’s dungeons dim, by falsehood’s dire lair,
Hewed an ascending pathway this divine pair.
Seven suns to infiltrate the seven realms below,
A labour unparalleled, a divine aim to follow.
Too long earth below the titan’s yoke and heel,
By this labour its higher counterpart must feel.
Not mere willing by a god in a starry sphere,
All parts to minutely collaborate in matter here.
To walk, breathe, speak and relentlessly write,
To attune daily common nature to incessant light.
He woke the Fire in each cell of our upturned clay,
To transmute the depths into a sun-drenched sky.
Note: Offered to Sri Aurobindo by us, Kali’s Brood and Murli R, on the 2nd day of His shedding the physical sheath to hasten and make feasible the descent of the Supramental in the Physical, this day of 6th December 2019.
