Meditations — On The Mother

Meditations — On The Mother

A Poem

Amidst the forlorn night and greyed heavens
A shear appeared and then the gleam
Descending the moon-stairs our longed for Dawn,
The Great Goddess, the Supernal She.
Her airy tread woke light in nether depths.
Trailed Her litter of serving gods
Like children without grasp of a mother’s ways.
She was the sheltering tree for huddled life
The lone Mother suckling illimitable gods.
Aditi of lore, Imperishable, Immaculate, Sole.

Our sole hope, our forever miracle
Her passing moods the gods eagerly fulfil.
Her glance an inviolable Fiat.
All marvels hid in Her sanctioning gaze,
The labour of ages a speck on Her unending canvas.
All light and colour were dyed by Her mood
And endless Night only Her brief chastisement.
All space and dance of endless stars
Moved eternally that She may venture their hearts.
The stone remained mute for Her touch.
The flowers laughed in bloom for Her.
The raging oceans roared their call
So on a remote shore Her feet to wet.
All ached and called, cried and sang
All hope and despair, night and day,
Were kindred gleams of Her single Sun.
