Beyond the Animal
A Sonnet
Lo, by these winding roads have begun
The journey ancient to the One.
Numberless lives this secret remembered
By tireless toil the venture attempted.
To forge by and through a feeble will
The resilience of a tempered steel.
By every blow of life this grows
An instinct beyond thought that knows.
Grey grow the colours of life
No biting sting in everyday strife.
Our being collaborates in silence
To toggle our parts to a balance.
Thus they fashion from the animal
A being beyond every sense primal.
