O Krishna

A Sonnet

O Krishna

O Krishna

A Sonnet

Krishna, O Krishna, Lord of the Azure
Beloved of Gopis and every heart pure.
Am now shorn of deviant guile
Would swap all riches for thy single smile.

Mire-draped and despondent was I
Mute willed and silent every cry.
But deep burned my searching fire
Peering through the void dark and sombre.

I commerced with the Titan and the brute
Forded every desire and lesser fruit.
In an anguish and pain I did sigh
For a gesture from Thee on high.

Then the miracle of Thee did unfold
Ever my hand was held by Thee untold.
