O Fire

O Fire

Sonnet — Daily Poetry for The Master of Works #79

O Fire, poet primordial with pristine speech,
Shepherding sacred words through mind and heart
To the keen listening silence beyond our reach,
Carry our aspirations to that subtle frontier last.

O Warrior, hero ever ahead of the battle march,
Many-limbed thy valour, thy stratagems all deft,
Sentinel keen-eyed of our woe-worn breach,
Guard our aspirations, our treasure most best.

O Seer, transmute our vision by subtle eyes each
Opening and widening on every realm vast,
Bring for us unceasing dawns luminously rich,
Churn all our becomings to be integral and exact.

O immortal Priest, may all my beginnings and endings be
A measured climb into eternity besides thee.
