Sonnet — An Invocation to The Master #14

Must it be thus, the passing of an age,
The mighty convulsions of age of iron,
Everywhere is a groaning and a rage,
A ravenous hunger for deep destruction.

When would tilt to balance the scale
For justice, the price of so many lives
Spent thus for this paltry human tale,
Oh we beseech solely Thy saving grace.

O Teller of our tales, script better days
For the human race, must our walk
Ever skirt the cliff and steep precipice,
Accosted twixt the ravine and the rock.

Be companioned to us within and without,
Thou alone canst the change bring about.
