Sonnet

How variedly gifted am I, with riches replete,
An abundance never seizing, never diminishing,
My ingenuity to extract confusion from silent
Simple peace, will to rescue woe from perishing!

Where learnt I this trait, to sift that perfect
Particle of coal from the mountain of silver,
What skill in picking sandgrain from the chest
Brimming with pearl, ruby and diamond treasure!

Oh this burden of too much good, the sheer grace
That tumbles on spotless path, or winding walks
On a perfect straight road, and the effortless ease
With which I wrest championhood of stupidities!

Of all qualities Thou must endow me with,
Mine stupidity Thou endows with height and depth!
