Human Calendar
Sonnet
What have I with a human calendar
Tabling motions of a petty sun,
When my day’s orbit by Thee begun
Crowding in each hour an entire year!
O Father-Sun, O Divine Sire,
Shepherd me whole in every moment
Surer than in the year just spent,
Nearer in image to Thee appear.
I shall chisel my will in each second,
Impose Thy imprint without restraint,
Make each a coin of divine mint
And offer them at Thy feet sacred.
In all years and years of manifest Time
Sublimate me into Thy vision sublime.
