Lend Me

Lend Me

Sonnet

How many spells Thou brewest O Magician,
What irresistible charms in hymns resonant
Compelling our souls by rhythms buoyant
On ascending roads leading to Thy empyrean.

With what wonder-craft Thy fingers haunt
Toying our spellbound hearts always
By confounding acts of mysterious grace
Rending our human wills near redundant.

Oh irony of learning more and knowing less
Of Thee, receding like horizon never reached
Of an azure spirit arc that is never ended
On these Thine spirit waters ever boundless.

Lend me Thy sceptre and transforming chant
And sanction on myself to use do Thou grant.
