Summons

Sonnet

I lay one lazy noon in arms of a drowse,
My senses retreated to their subliminal house.
My mind withdrew and turned upon itself
By an awareness’ turn entered dream self.

All was as before but a rumour was in the air,
It seemed descended the steps of a heaven-stair.
Each listening ear and murmurings bore
The rumour without knowing its message secure.

The rumour reached my ear and heart sprang,
An unbelief and surprise through my being rang.
It was a task to be done, a play to be staged,
Of that scheme a minor role mine was made.

Long have I waited for Thy summons O Mother,
I marshal all my parts for this Thy endeavour.
