Glimpse Me Him

Glimpse Me Him

Glimpse Me Him

A Sonnet

Sri Aurobindo

August silence upon eternal heights
Reposing above all on cosmic waters.
Exceeding the farthest reach of mind
Even by subtlest hearts not contained.

Lord, Guru, Friend and Paramour,
The world and its works quench not my ardour.
A word or phrase flings me anew,
In throes of rapture in each sinew.

Garrulous am i and have shed all shame,
I shun all worlds that doth deny Thy name.
What use sight and to hear, or even touch,
If these stirrings Thy contact do not fetch?

Throw asunder, O Mother, these worlds all vain,
Only glimpse me Him and I shall not complain.
