Reluctant God

Reluctant God

Reluctant God

A Sonnet

Not this way the Gods of old
Did their deeds I was told.
Wise and grand beyond measure
Freely showered all known treasure.

One upheld a mountain aloft
Soothed hearts by his lute craft.
Another routinely gulps poison
Saves for man his daily season.

But lo, my heart has chosen weird
A Scribe of light with a silver beard!
He holds all worlds in his single heart
But utters no word of his art.

I wait ever for that rare word or nod
What do I do with this reluctant God?!
