Hide and Seek
A Sonnet

Hide and Seek
A Sonnet
This recurring game of hide and seek
Does Thee no grace O Immortal Face.
Wily ruses to take Thee we make
Only Thou dost vanish with nary a trace.
We craft a trap in a vain dim hope
To bind Thee for a moment more.
Knots of thought as woven rope
But Thou dost vanish just as before!
We cast our word and gestured spells
To lure and pause Thee in a daze.
Then we wonder why nothing tells
That Thou art gone, and we in this maze!
Let us deal fair, spells and self I give up.
But Thou in earnest this game must stop.
