Am Companioned

Sonnet — An Invocation to The Master #248

Another dusk closes the page of day
Whose light seeks refuge behind the hills,
All Nature pauses its living cry
For Night the equal mother of all arrives.

The clouds like a slow procession of gods
Weighed down by world’s immense burden
Cast down the aid of their solemn gazes
For time-born brows of hope forlorn.

And Thou seated beyond our hemisphere
Have kept my life to a singular theme,
In all within and in all that doth appear
I only catch Thy perpetual gleam.

Be as it may the world in its whirls,
Am companioned by Thee and Thy moods.
