Journeyman

Journeyman

Sonnet — An Invocation to The Master #194

How dwindled is the empire of desire,
The ego reduced to hollowed shadow,
The erstwhile emperor does appear
Drawn by strings of a puppet show.

The human seasons have all passed
Now is glimpsed the austere peak
Hard of climb, only Thy will can lead
Through to the ends I humbly seek.

A little more and the threshold crossed
Of this mortal hemisphere’s limit,
Then the soul and body are mingled
In happy camaraderie by Thy spirit.

How far I have ventured on Thy eternal road,
A lonely journeyman to Thy blessed abode.
