Absolve Me
Sonnet — An Invocation to The Master #57
Oh fly not past me
As jewel-bright butterfly of beauty,
Nor shoot Thy arrow of words
That upon my mind flaming strikes.
Pose not Thy querying silence
To a heart aching by Thy absence.
Leave not my mind to its device,
That old fool of unalterable ways.
Give my heart faculty to think
And lips for all Thy savours to drink,
Give me a will to shadow Thine
To lead all my thought and action.
Place Thy hand upon my head,
Absolve me of all mortalhood.
