Outrun

Sonnet — An Invocation to The Master #3

Oh I have fled from Thy pursuit,
Assumed the mask of many bodies
And ventured upon life anonymous,
Yet by Thee by each form is caught!

I took to the ocean and the sky,
Swam deep’s calm and turbulence,
Flew through stirless air and storms,
Yet couldn’t outrun Thy gazing eye!

I cloaked my heart with desire
And sealed my eye to Thy sun,
How then Thy image doth shine
In sanctum of heart as a fire?

O Thou whom I can never outrun
May all my knots at Thy feet be undone.
