New Births
Sonnet
Each day’s waking is as the start of a new birth
Emerging from clouded folds of sleep’s womb,
A remembered purpose the eyelids doth touch
And unbars the doors to mind and heart’s room.
The charter of the day looms up to the mind,
Pedantry cares that hover with need sullen,
Missives of commerce expectation burdened,
Borne by emissary hours in a procession.
The ritual waters flow like aspiring thought,
Warm cascades of deliberation self conceived,
Negating pitfall of desire and poisoned fruit
Setting my course to all that truly mattered.
Of such new orbits the pathways of ascent,
To meet my Master enroute to His descent.
