Summons

Summons

Sonnet

First the summons in field of mind,
A labour long of the thinking kind.
An infusion of ideas wide and subtle,
Rendering the mind pliant and supple.

Second the summons to world of vital,
The anchor of feeling and action pivotal.
The vast purging of the masquerading I,
Scattered the clouds from the vital’s sky.

Third the summons to body’s frame,
Relentless knocks on bone and nerve.
All earth-habit of instinct automatic,
Is now made deliberate and emphatic.

Of all the best, the summons to the heart,
O Peerless Master, what craftsman Thou art?!
