Night I Shall Shed

Night I Shall Shed

A Sonnet

Courtesy Meditations on Savitri

A prolonged adventure’s grim phase
On matter and its subterranean base.
A dragon cave of nether mights
Swallows hope and descending lights.

I am emptied of all human mights
Invested only with gory blights.
Am shackled to a creaky frame
My motion stunted as one lame.

My leap is paused and speech halted
My mind divorced from its light exalted.
Am exiled to life by numbed dreams
Unquenched my thirst by poisoned streams.

This night I shall shed like a worn cloak
By a blaze of God my being shall soak.
