Stone

A Sonnet

Priti Ghosh

There is a mood of Thee housed in amber
Within me that fugitive gleam to remember.
By a moment of heightened sense caught
A ray of Thee in memory’s amber wrought.

Flame doused, broken every mental spell
A vital sludge now props the physical shell.
Am a somber ruin, an emptied coffer
I shed all impulses by an inner winter.

Yet, on my barren self as muted stone
An imprint seen of Thy feet alone.
O Deity, every atom’s occult nucleus
We whirl in Thy orbit O Truth impervious!

O Infinitesimal Miracle, Captivator Divine
My stone bares its heart to Thy sunshine.
