Arrive as the Herd-Boy

Arrive as the Herd-Boy

Arrive as the Herd-Boy

Sri Krishna

Quick now, I have no need of thy grandeur
Or even the pomp and pageantry of thy omnipotence
Arrive as the herd-boy, barefooted and shirtless
Come and embrace me as friend, feign to have missed me.
By a hidden stream we shall sit shoulders touching,
Plotting to halt these grinding gears of time.

Bring too thy lute that lures souls from mortality
And we shall play as children once more
Thou the groom and I the bride
The forest clearing as dais and an arching sky for roof
The wild flower and creeper shall be our jewels
By an unseen fire we shall take our vows.
Thou shalt laugh at the frivolity of the play;
I shall dread the separation that time will bring,
And being swept away to the edge of infinity.
And think of all the words of longing
I shall offer as ransom to the lords of silence.

The above lines were written in the year 2009. A period of personal failings, a complete disconnect from any movements of a higher type. From that crucible emerged this cry.
