Many Grammars
PoemâââAn Invocation to The Master #231
How many grammars must I perforce learn?
Gait and tread and gesture of the physical,
An array of movements in sequence to turn
Marking the manner of man the mortal.
The vital seat of emotion and feeling,
That engine of ardour and possessionÂ
Always by ego and desire turning,
Enabling all means of human relation.
The mind, ah the mind, the impostor
Bearing ideal and reason and dreamÂ
Marring our daily lay composure
To make our plenty paltry seem.
Oh the tyranny of the three are upon me
Speaking in tongues I cannot yet fathom,
My life sits on this tripod of uncertaintyÂ
Hoping for some overarching rhythm.
And last the soul, that bears affinity to Thee alone,
Speaks a dialect to all the three still unknown!
Of What Worth

Of What Worth
SonnetâââAn Invocation to The Master #77
Keep O serpent thy glistening treasures
Of diamonds and rubies, opal and pearl,
Guarding jealously the cherished measures
To perpetuate endlessly thy abject rule.
Thy djinns placing no limit to thy gluttony
Entrench thy hungerâs web everywhere,
In commerce and science is thy formulary
Mining many spoils from human despair.
But mine is a perennial fount within,
A stream of descending light divine,
It heeds not my mood or disposition,
Suffuses my being ever with benediction.
Of what worth are all thy treasures to me,
For I sup the light-streams from His eternity!
